BRD - Groupe Société Générale is the second largest Romanian bank, by the size of assets, and it is part of Group Société Générale, one of the largest banking groups in the euro area. In Romania, BRD - Groupe Société Générale has almost 10 000 employees, through a network of over 800 agencies in all counties. The company has 2.4 million active customers and over 2.2 million issued cards.
Challenge:
In order to increase the quality of the payroll services for employees of both the bank and its branches, in 2007 BRD - Groupe Société Générale launched a thorough market research aimed at finding the most suitable provider of salary calculations externalization.
The chosen provider was supposed to also ensure a software platform that would enable a secure retrieval of all information necessary to process the payroll, which would also be integrated with the software system dedicated to human resource management that BRD - Groupe Société Générale was already using at the time.
Solution:
The chosen solution was the Charisma HCM Portal platform provided by TotalSoft. The criteria used by BRD Groupe Société Générale in selecting TotalSoft as a software provider focused on the integration of Charisma HCM Portal platform with the Peoplesoft application used in all countries where the banking group was present, as well as a wide range of technical requirements for an increase in the quality of communication with employees, such as the transmission of encrypted payslips via e-mail.
After only a month since the project’s launch, TotalSoft was automatically generating files that would be sent as attachments via e-mails to 9,000 recipients, as well as 9000 PINs sent via SMS, tasks that were triggered by a single click of the mouse and completed in two hours.
The implementation of the payroll outsourcing system was one of the major performances of the Romanian IT field. In addition to the complexity of such a project, which involves processing monthly salaries for 10,000 employees, the project also involved rigid time constraints, a full configuration and adaptation of Charisma HCM, which was completed in just a few months.
At the end of 2014, BRD Groupe Société Générale decided to transfer its human resources activity to TotalSoft’s Charisma HCM solution. Thus, after 7 years of payroll calculation services offered to BRD group, TotalSoft also took over human resources management. The bank chose Charisma HCM to manage the employees, timesheet and absences, compensations and benefits, business intelligence, employees’ career management and training. Furthermore, TotalSoft offered the mobile component of the solution, Charisma HCM Mobile, as well as the Self Service and Alerter modules.
Results:
The project beneficiary was the BRD Groupe Société Générale’s HR division. The members of the HR Division now have instant access to all employee data via the system’s web module, Charisma HCM Portal.
With Charisma HCM Portal’s help, they can generate, upon employees’ request, various certificates, including certificates necessary to obtain bank loans. In the situation of an employee having lost or deleted the e-mail containing the pay slip, they may notify the HR Department to have it resent via Charisma HCM Portal.
Benefits gained by BRD as a result of the externalization to TotalSoft include:
- The reduction of operational costs through the elimination of HR staff hours needed to conduct time-consuming activities, such as the calculation of leave days, requests for certificates, revision of employee information;
- Reduction of stationery costs by replacing printed payslips with electronic versions of them;
- Increase in the productivity of the Human Resources department by facilitating the communication with the employees located throughout the country (TotalSoft’s application makes necessary human resources information available to all BRD employees in a secure way);
- Increase in the motivation and accountability of company’s employees;
- Provision of quick access to employee information through a web interface, the information being available anywhere, at any time.
